Is it ok to wear black to a wedding?

My cousin is getting married in a fortnight, its a late afternoon ceremony into an evening reception, no opportunity to change for dancing. I have a gorgeous black halter neck linen maxi dress which makes me look tall and skinny, but I don't know whether its acceptable to wear black to a wedding. Any/all opinions and if possible, other ideas, if you think it wouldn't be a good idea to go with black... Thanks x
