Vauxhall vectra strange noise?

when reversing UP an incline with a small turning lock on I get a strange rumbling/grinding noise as if something that is spinning is touching something on the front drivers side wheel... it could be something touching the cam belt wheel but i cant see/think what it could be....its fine when reversing on the flat and in a straight line...oppinions please as to what to look for....
